Race aces kick off action packed 2014 Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show!
The opening day of the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show got underway with a bang today as four time World Superbike Champion Carl Fogarty enjoyed an emotional reunion with his title winning machines while Cal Crutchlow, Britain’s most successful Grand Prix rider since Barry Sheene, made his UK debut in Ducati colours.
Dubbed Foggy Friday, thousands of fans poured into London’s ExCel arena for an action-packed first day as Carl Fogarty officially opened the show, having an emotional reunion with his four beloved Ducati’s that he raced to victory in the World Superbike Championship. MCN also arranged for Carl to receive the prestigious ‘MCN Man of the Year 1995’ trophy that he lost. Alongside numerous autograph sessions, Carl then took to the stage to chat through his racing career. Speaking on being reunited with his Ducati’s, Carl said, “It’s been a fantastic day today, to see all four of my title bikes lined up side by side for the first time was quite emotional and brought back all of the good memories. It was great to meet up with fans and have a little look around the show too – I even got to see my old mate Whitham go up against the TT lads in the Revolution show!”
Following the announcement of the BTSport MotoGP commentating team, the line-up enjoyed a rapturous reception as they took to the stage flanked by Britain’s very own Cal Crutchlow, who was making his UK debut as a full factory MotoGP rider. Also on hand was fellow MotoGP star and former team-mate to Cal, Bradley Smith. Both riders were on hand throughout the day to meet and greet with fans. Elsewhere race fans were able to enjoy an exclusive unveiling by the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki British Superbike Team of Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne and Stuart Easton. Three time BSB Champion ‘Shakey’ said “The Show has been great and it was nice to see my new bike colours at the exact same time as the fans when the covers came off! I even got a chance to use the Kawasaki K-Lap system, luckily Stuart went first so I could see what to do though.”
Today also marked the first run of the Revolution live action show featuring TT Legend John McGuinness,going head to head with opposing captain Michael Dunlop, who has just announced he will be returning to the TT this year with BMW. Also tackling the course for the first time was James Whitham, Michael Rutter,Phillip McCallen and Ian Hutchinson.
Tickets will be available to buy on the door for £20 while children under 15 go free when accompanied by an adult. Bike parking is also free.
