Homage to....

Well, I guess seeing as the website takes its name from this car it should be hounered with having the first page that I build!

What can I say about this car?! Not only is it one of the most beautiful Japanese motors ever to have been built it is also the most powerful! In many cases it can outrun even the most powerful supercars such as Ferraris, TVRs etc (not sure about the Lambo, but it can certainly out handle it!)

It is very difficult to get hold of an unmodified post 1980's Skyline due to the number of aftermarket accesories availble for it. Plus, at one point there was talk of 1000bhp with a simple modification of the engine's management system!

Since 1967 there have been many guises of the Skyline, probably some are unrecognisable to the modern car fanatic! Looking more like a Lada these cars were not the hot import tuner baby that is the Skyline today.

Once the design was revised in the early 80's the car went from strength to strength. The R32 was the 'classic' look Skyline, with the unmistakable circular tail lamps and the swooping, but sharp body curves.

In the early 90's the R33 was brought onto the scene. By now people were beginning to see the potential of this car, although unbelivebly very few were in the USA. (Infact, to get hold of a Skyline in the US, you have to specially import it. There is no official Nissan import dealer.) Already, the custom car fans were developing engines and bodys suitable for the Skyline.

A new millenium and a new Skyline. The R34 brought with it a new look ass and specially developed 4WD and engine management. Many Skyline fans saw the R34 as a bit of a let down, due to its high tech spec it was more difficult to customise, and was too well behaved on the streets!

All the Skylines featured in the 'Fast and Furious' movies were R34's. Paul Walker's silver Skyline in the beginning of '2 fast, 2 furious' was in fact an GT-R R34 Vspec. People who know the car are always curious as to how the film crew managed to get the car to 'let go' as it did, performing burnouts and powerslides. In fact the tech crew on the set disabled the traction control and electronic stability management, and broke the front differential, effectively making the car into a RWD car, therefore allowing it to perform the outrageous stunts seen in the movies! A website that gives full details of the car's mods can be found here!
