This 1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan has had a body-off-frame restoration to match its data plate codes. Most
components have been rebuilt with new, new reproduction, new-old-stock (NOS) or new-old-reproduction-stock
(NORS) parts. All components are functional - including the "Console Range" Motorola tube-type AM radio, the
electric clock with sweep-second hand, and the "automatic pop-out cigar lighter." Two "tailored accessory" door
mounted side-view mirrors were added for improved visibility. The stock body is complimented with new reproduction
period-correct fog lights, and new reproduction 1962-64 Thunderbird-style (Kelsey-Hayes) wire wheels. New
radial tires with correct-width sparkling-white side-walls have been added to provide modern-car traction.

The 1956 Fairlane's M Code engine was the famous 2-overhead-valve 292-cubic-inch Y-block "Thunderbird V-8"
producing 202 horsepower and 289 foot-pounds of torque (with Fordomatic). It was the standard engine in 1955
Thunderbird's and 1955 Mercury's. As well, only Fairlane V-8 models had dual exhaust "ported through the rear bumper."

On Lemonade 10¢, the original oil-bath air cleaner was converted to contain a more-practical K&N filter. The original
Holley 4000 4-barrel "teapot" carburetor was replaced with a more-dependable (1958-up) new Holley 4160 4-barrel
carb that sits on a (1957-up) 1957 Ford "B" intake manifold. The Holley Loadomatic vacuum-advance distributor
was replaced with a more-responsive (1957-up) 1959 Ford distributor with vacuum and centrifugal advance, and
Pertronix electronic ignition. Instant throttle response and snappy acceleration are provided by this torque-rich
engine and the optional (lower) 3.89 : 1 rear gears.

The "Speed-Trigger Fordomatic Drive" 3-speed automatic transmission starts in 2nd gear in normal "Drive" range operation.
Flooring the throttle pedal accomplishes 1st-gear fast-getaway starts and automatic up-shifts to 2nd and 3rd gears.
Cruising-speed downshifts to passing gear (2nd-gear) are accomplished by pressing firmly on the throttle pedal.
The trunk is complete with an original-type Firestone 6.70 x 15" bias 4-ply tubeless wide white side-wall spare tire, a
"large plaid" fleese-backed mat, and a bumper jack. The rear license plate is enclosed in an extremely rare re-chromed
original factory accessory "hooded design" frame.
